A note on CORGI
|
In order to carry out a power flush on a central heating system, your chosen engineer does NOT have to be CORGI registered. CORGI is for operatives who work on gas appliances. Just because your boiler is gas-fired it doesn’t mean that the engineer cannot work on the system. Indeed, many systems are oil-fired. Being CORGI registered is NOT a mark of an engineer who has any expertise whatsoever on heating systems. Indeed, some CORGI registered engineers are almost clueless about best practices on heating systems, and especially so on the act of cleansing of systems.

We are not tied to manufacturers of power flushing equipment, or chemical companies. Operatives listed above use a variety of manufactured flushing pumps and chemicals. Although there is a British Standard for power flushing a heating system, it is questionable, and methods used by operatives may be their own. You are therefore strongly advised to seek the advice of at least two operatives, and discuss with them their utilised method with regard to your particular heating system and its inherent problems. You should always ask for an ‘inhibitor’ to be added after the system has been cleansed. This may well be in addition to the costs of flushing.
